The foreign law firm members of an association would not be permitted to practise Hong Kong law or to employ or to take into partnership any Hong Kong solicitor to practise Hong Kong law (see paragraph D2 above).

As indicated above, it would be a requirement of the Scheme that the ratio of the total number of registered foreign lawyers practising law in Hong Kong in the associated firms, whether as partners and employees of the foreign law firm or as employees of the associated local firm, to the total number of Hong Kong solicitors practising law in Hong Kong as partners or employees of the local firm should not at any time exceed 1:1.
The Scheme would also require that the name of each
each law
firm comprised in any association be clearly more prominent on its own letterhead/than the name(s) of the other law firm(s) in the association and in all
correspondence and material issued or distributed in Hong Kong by it.
In the case of registered associations, the names of all firms in the association
would also have to be displayed at all premises of the firms in Hong Kong.
