Dear Mike
)
AUTHORITY FOR RETIREMENT: LIMITED COMPENSATION SCHEME (LCS)
1.
Following your letter of 12 June (reference L/M to BRO/0/1 II), we have made a thorough search of our files on the Limited Compensation Scheme. Unfortunately, we have been unable to find anything indicating that the papers were specifically seen/approved by the Secretary of State.
2.
In order to consider what action, if any, should be taken, our Legal Adviser has asked for details of the scope of the problem beyond, of course, the particular case of Mr Broadley. I should be grateful if you could let me know how many officers in the Hong Kong Government have been dealt with under the LCS.
Regrettably, the annexes to your letter of 8 April to Michael Stone are no longer on our file. With apologies, I should be grateful if you could send me another copy of these.
3.
Yours ever,
Emma
