HMOCS: HOME CIVIL SERVICE: SECURITY VETTING AND RESIDENCE
I was grateful to you and other addressees for going through with me the issues associated with vetting and other requirements that Hong Kong HMOCS members and their dependents will face if they wish to join certain sectors of the Civil Service and armed services. We have since spoken with the Metropolitan Police Force to establish their policy on recruitment and vetting.
I believe we now have a fairly comprehensive picture of the position and would like to seek your comments on the attached note which we propose to use with HMOCS members when asked about these issues.
As you will see I have tried to paint a realistic picture, without being too gloomy. But we need to be careful not to mislead HMOCS members.
I should be grateful for any comments or suggestions you or copy addressees may have. For Mrs Catto, Home Office, I am attaching some of the background material for ease of reference.
