Thank you for sending me a copy of your letter of 4 August to Mr Wright.
I have no comments on what is said in your draft note about the police and security vetting (except to suggest that you might like to substitute 'service' for 'force' in the first line of sub-paragraph a)). We do not have detailed information about the checks which individual police forces make on would-be recruits but we have no reason to suppose that the practice in provincial forces differs significantly from that followed by the Metropolitan Police.
