On first appointment

On first appointment a judge recruited from overseas will be provided with a passage and by a route approved by the Director of Accounting Services. Similar passages for the family will also be provided, subject to paragraphs 9.1.2 and 9.1.3.

Passages are not normally provided for a judge recruited locally in Hong Kong. Passages may be provided for the family, by a route approved by the Director of Accounting Services, from the country in which they are resident at the time of the officer's appointment. The cost of the passages will be limited to the actual cost or the cost of standard passages from the country accepted as the judge's country of is the origin (see paragraph 8) to Eong Kong, whichever less.
