I am directed by the Secretary of State for Foreign and
Commonwealth Affairs to offer you appointment as a Judge of the High
Court of Hong Kong on the terms and conditions set out in this letter
and in the attached "Memorandum on Conditions of Service for Judge of
the High Court appointed on Overseas and Annual Leave Agreement
Terms", subject to the satisfactory completion of the usual
recruitment formalities.
The salary for this appointment is currently $107,100 per
month of the Judicial Officers Salary Scale.
The appointment is for the period from the date of your
assumption of duty of the office of Judge of the High Court until
your 65th birthday.
The offer of appointment is conditional upon your giving an
undertaking not to return to private practice without the consent of
the Governor of Hong Kong or the Secretary of State for Foreign and
Commonwealth Affairs, either in the territories of Hg Kong or in
any territory to which the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of Hong
