There would not appear to be any justification for any further delays for considering decision whether or not
not to opt for it and, once we have our tackle in order and given notice to the officers concerned, I would think that we could decide on a deadline within

month or six weeks of such notification. The only qualification I would put on this is that which I have mentioned before, namely the possibility of re-opening the deadline if the compensation and retiring package is substantially improved.
9. Finally I should draw your attention to the fact that, like the general pensions laws, the new judicial pensions law would appear to enable judges who opt for it to buy back pensionable years. counting bought back pensionable service for the purpose of compensation, and that 1s a very serious issue, it is equally an issue as regards the Judiciary, and would need to be decided before the second deadline is decided upon. We cannot keep on taking second bites at those cherries.
