JUDICIAL OFFICERS AND ELIGIBILITY FOR COMPENSATION

Suggested amendments to draft dated 23rd June:

Para 2(ii):

Replace the last two lines as follows: 'payable under our scheme to former contract officers admitted to membership of HMOCS (including judges and judicial officers) whose application for membership of HMOCS was received after the 27th May 1985, the date of the ratification of the Joint Declaration; and", Cine: delete.

Para 2, Cast 2

Para 2, 14mas 2 and 3: delete the brackets and the question mark.

Para 3, line 7: delete "permanent and".

Para 4, first sentence:

2

Of course, because they ceased to be DTs many years ago ! The question is, and the only relevance of the point is, how long before independence or other qualifying date did recruitment on pensionable terms cease. I do not know the answer to that. I suggest you delete the sentence and the introductory "However" in the next sentence.

Para 4, lines 6 and 7: Substitute: "service, and to recruit on pensionable terms.

"

Contrary....

Para 4 et seq: Substitute "pensionable terms" for "pensionable service" permanent and pensionable service", "pensionable employment" etc.

Pere, line 15; Incert after "termo": " and thus become eligible to apply for membership of HMOCS".

Para 4: Add at end: "These arrangements were notified to the Hong Kong public service by a circular dated 28th March 1902"; ccc para 7.

Para 5. last sentence:

Para 6 first sentence:

*

We had and were.

I find it difficult to get to terms with this sentence and I think it would best to omit it and to start the following sentence with "However". In any event, in the second sentence substitute for "approval" "membership of IIMOCS".
