HONG KONG: ARRANGEMENTS FOR HM OVERSEAS CIVIL SERVICE:
MEETING WITH THE CHANCELLOR ON 17 JUNE
1. I understand that, subject to final confirmation from the Chief Secretary, the Secretary of State will meet with the Chancellor and Mr Portillo at 9.30am on 16 June to discuss arrangements for members of Her Majesty's Overseas Civil Service (HMOCS). I submit:
points to make and defensive points;
a short background to the issues;
- a copy of the Secretary of State's minute to the Chief Secretary of 1 May and to the Chancellor of 12 June. Many of these points were re-hashed in the earlier correspndence with the Chief Secretary, which I have not
therefore attached.
