HMOCS: OPTIONS PAPER
1. I have had a go at redrafting the options paper (copy attached) taking into account the points made by the Treasury at the meeting last Friday. Please could you have a look at it and let me know as soon as possible whether any changes need to be made. I have marked in manuscript a few points which I am not sure about. I would like to be able to fax the revised paper to the Treasury before lunch tomorrow and hope this will give you enough time.

We also thought it worthwhile going back to HKG to ask them to obtain a rough indication of costs from Hong Kong Bank in respect of the private sector option. You suggested that we might ask Hong Kong Bank to give a quote for an HMOCS officer due to retire in 2002. I have already spoken to Mike Waters who is happy to follow up on this. I also intend sending him the attached letter, but before I do so please could you confirm that there is no other information that you think we need to obtain from the Bank.
