Appendix
:
The average HK$ £ sterling exchange rates are extracted from the Hong Kong Monthly Digest of Statistics compiled by the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Government. The exchange rates (except for the years 1972 to 1974) are the average closing middle telegraphic transfer rates for the year compiled from daily rates supplied by the Hang Seng Bank Limited. Figures for years 1972 to 1974 are based on the daily closing sell in g rates of bank notes supplied by the Hang Seng Bank Ltd.
