In addition UK pensions legislation provides that all HMOCS pensioners are entitled to certain UK pension supplements (Supplementary Pension for Overseas Service: SPOS) to help match UK retail price inflation. This additional safeguard applies to HMOCS pensioners of the present Dependent Territories as well as to pensioners of former Dependent Territories.
NOTE: Four other territories have become independent since 1954: HMOCS officers did not serve in the Maldives, Sudan, (Anglo-Egyptian condominium) or Zimbabwe (formerly (Southern) Rhodesia), and we understand that any HMOCS officers who served in Tonga (British-protected state) did so on secondment from other territories.
