The Scheme would come into operation on 30 June 1996.

In this Scheme "normal retirement age" means:
in the case of an entitled officer, other than a member of the disciplined services or a member of the judiciary:
to whom the Hong Kong Pensions Ordinance (CAP 89) applies, 55;
to whom the Hong 99) applies, 60;
in
Kong Pensions Benefits Ordinance (CAP
the case of an entitled officer who is a member of the disciplined services:
to whom the Hong Kong Pensions Ordinance applies, 55;
to whom the Hong Kong Pension Benefits Ordinance applies, the age specified under Section 10(3) of that Ordinance, or if no age is so specified, 60;
in the case of a judge of the Supreme Court or of any court to which appeals lie from the Supreme Court. 55;
in the case of a judge of the District Court appointed as such before 1 January 1987, 60;
in
the case of a judge of the District Court appointed as such on or after 1 January 1987, 65;
in the case of a Registrar or Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court, to whom the Pensions Benefits (Judicial Officers) Ordinance (CAP 401) applies, 65.
OFFICERS ELIGIBLE FOR BENEFITS UNDER THE SCHEME

Overseas officers who:
are on the permanent and pensionable establishment of the Hong Kong Government on 30 June 1996; and
became members of Her Majesty's Overseas Civil Service (HMOCS) on or before 30 June 1992,
than officers referred to in paragraph 5 below, will be eligible for benefits under and in accordance with the Scheme
