2. The PCSPS provides for the payment of "EARLY" retirement benefits in the following circumstances:
CATEGORY A. COMPULSORY EARLY RETIREMENT (AGE 50 OR OVER) CATEGORY B. FLEXIBLE EARLY RETIREMENT (AGE 50 OR OVER) CATEGORY C. COMPULSORY EARLY SEVERANCE (UNDER AGE 50)
CATEGORY D. FLEXIBLE EARLY SEVERANCE (UNDER AGE 50)
CATEGORY E. ILL-HEALTH RETIREMENT
CATEGORY F. APPROVED EARLY RETIREMENT
CATEGORY G. ACTUARIALLY REDUCED RETIREMENT
3. CATEGORY A covers all cases of compulsory retirement at age 50 or over and also includes redundancy whether compulsory or voluntary. The Civil Servant's pension is preserved and is paid to him when he reaches retiring age. The pension is calculated in the same way as a normal Civil Service pension, ie 1/80th of the Civil Servant's
The only pensionable pay for every year's reckonable service he has. difference is that his reckonable service can be enhanced by anything up to 6 and 2/3 years, eg
G7 with pensionable pay of #26,121 a year, 15 years' reckonable service and assuming maximum enhancement, his preserved pension
= #7,073 a year. would be: #26,121 X 1/80 X (15+ 6 2/3)
