Annex D
12.
Officers currently on 90% pensionability may, at the same time when they apply to join the NPS, make a further option, to transfer to 100% pensionability with effect from a material date determined in accordance with Annex D. Those transferring to 100% pensionability will have their vacation leave earning rate reduced with effect from the same date. Details of the arrangements for transfer to 100% pensionability are set out in Annex D.
13.
Disciplined Services officers who are serving on extension of pensionable service beyond the retirement age prescribed by their Heads of Departments under the NPS will be required, at the same time when they exercise the option to join the NPS, to serve notice of retirement to cease duty as from 1 January 1988 or the expiry of their current extension, whichever is the earlier, and thereafter to proceed on pre-retirement leave, if any, on expiry of which his retirement will take effect.
14.
If an officer's option form is not received by the Head of Department before expiry of the option period, the officer will be deemed to have opted to remain on the old pension scheme. An officer who has not received an acknowledgement of receipt or a copy of the completed option form within one month from the date of his application should make enquiries with his department.
15.
An officer who dies in service before exercising an option within the option period will be deemed to have opted for the NPS for the purpose of calculation of death benefits, if he is so eligible.
