Milton Street, Nr. Alfriston, East Sussex, BN26 5RP.

9th January, 1992.

Dear Tim,

You may recall that during a brief chat at our Buffet I mentioned a problem which worries my mother-in-law, Mrs Morris. Mrs Morris lives in Litlington and is one of your electorate. Incidentally, she is also a party member.

She was born in Shanghai of German/Chinese parents but married an Englishman from Cheshire. Her parents were buried in Shanghai before the Japanese invasion. She and her husband left Shanghai for Hong Kong when ordered so to do. Later they were captured and spent three and a half years in a Japanese camp where Anne's sister was born ).

After the Chinese Communists took over in 1948 Mrs Morris arranged for the transfere of her parents, brothers and sisters remains to Hong Kong and they were reinterred in:

Happy Valley Cemetery) Wanchi

Victoria Island

) Main Cemetery on Island )

Plot numbers 10872 & 10873 (One stone over both plots)

Gotlieb Greiner

Aka Maria Greiner

Wilhelm Greiner

Babetta Jones

Mr Morris received an MBE from the Queen for his services in the Hong Kong Government and retired to England; he has since passed away.

Mrs Morris who is now 80 is concerned about the future of the Hong Kong Cemetery following the return of the Colony to China.

Presumably the treaty addresses itself to this problem and does not confine itself to the Military Cemetery.

May I on behalf of Mrs Morris ask that you investigate the position.

Yours sincerely,

Rogen Shanker пода
