Mr G Siu,
Director,
New Airport Projects Co-ordination Office, Government Secretariat, Hong Kong.
Deer Garden,
AIRPORT CONTRACTS
1.
We would like to clarify, for our own information, the deadlines for the award of major PADS related contracts, franchises and licences, especially in respect of those where there is an obligation under the MOU to discuss with the Chinese side of the Airport Committee. I would be grateful if you could let us have details.
2. I note from earlier correspondence that the next major contract after the award of the airport platform will be for the fuel supply, fuel storage and distribution system. Am I correct in assuming that the significance of this contract lies in the fact that it will be the first franchise to be awarded?
If so,
I would be interested to know your views on the whether it would be possible for the contract to proceed on a non-franchise basis, and the implications of doing so. Please could also provide me with details of this project, including the cost if it were to be funded by HKG, the date it is scheduled to be awarded and whether there is any scope for slippage.
3.
It would also be helpful for us to know when the award of the contract for the Western Harbour Crossing is scheduled to take place and the scope for slippage.
4. I am copying this letter to Charles Garrett (JLG), for information.
Your ever,
Nijel
