AMEC
AMEC is an international construction, engineering and development group with a turnover of over £2.3 billion,
Group employing more than 30,000 people around the world. companies in South East Asia and Australia are controlled from regional headquarters in Hong Kong where AMEC Construction South East Asia is based. I attach a copy of a letter which has recently been sent to Mr Needham from Brian McCann, Director Corporate Development, which briefly mentions AMEC's interests in Hong Kong. (Mr McCann is also Chairman of the South East Asia Action Committee and a vice Chairman of APAG).
As you will recall, AMEC are a major partner in the international joint venture which has secured a contract for work on the Tai Ho Section of Hong Kong's North Lantau Expressway. Total contract value is approximately £260M.
The Minister for Trade will be visiting Hong Kong and South China from 4-7 January. We have recommended that Sir Alan Cockshaw, Chairman of AMEC, be included in the party. of invitation have not yet been issued.
