THE DEVELOPMENT

Following agreement in July

between the British and Chinese

governments, the £8 billion project to build a new airport for Hong Kong together with supporting infrastructure,

has made a rapid start with a series of

calls to tender, for pre-qualification and

announcement of contract awards.

In addition the development of

Hong Kong's port capacity is expected

to lead to further projects worth

another £3 billion over the next

decade.

All of this means that a vast

amount of business opportunities will

be on offer over the next few years for

British companies as main contractors,

sub-contractors and suppliers. The range of opportunities will be diverse; requirements will include civil engineering work, mechanical and

electrical goods, building supplies, electrical and electronic equipment and

a diverse range of other goods,

materials and services.

The total value of sub-contract

and supplier requirements could be as high as £3 billion.

THE SEMINAR

Presentations will enable delegates

to get a fully rounded picture of the

vast array of opportunities which exist and to begin to identify the business

prospects for their own particular

products or services. The speakers

gathered for the occasion all have first

hand knowledge of the project and of

Hong Kong. Delegates will also receive

an information pack providing full

background to the projects, who is

involved and all the latest information.

The keynote address will be given

by the Minister for Trade, the Hon

Tim Sainsbury MP.
