Police Tactical Unit (PTU) training and operations had been taken over by the RHKAAF. Nevertheless, the RAF still undertook familiarisation training. As a result of the reduction in support to RHKP both Wessex and Scout flying hours had been reduced.
35. The border detachment of the Defence Animal Support Unit (DASU) would be disbanded in April as the RHKP did not intend to use dogs
routinely on the border.
36. On RN matters, the Patrol Craft activities within the Square Boundary had been increased in order to bolster support to MARPOL in their response to incursions by Chinese patrol vessels. HKG had now decided to purchase a decompression chamber and would assume responsibility for this service from February 1994. HKG would also assume responsibility for EOD and IED clearance tasks by early 1994.

37. CA HQ BFHK briefed the meeting. There had been 3 meetings of the Expert Group on Defence Lands since the last Steering Group Meeting.
