Sp Arms and Services.
Examines the size and outline structure of sp arms and services in relation to the role and operational requirements of the Garrison at each stage in the withdrawal.
Sp forces can be withdrawn from HK in stages but major reductions will not take place until the BG infrastructure and the Second battalion have been withdrawn in 1994/5 and then again once accompanied service ceases.
Manpower levels are recommended for the remaining life of the Garrison and these will need to be agreed as the basis for future financial and contingency planning.
Need some tpt, comms, engr, ordnance and REME support to the end and this should be found by Gurkhas or UKTAP, the HKMSC having gone on redundancy in early 97.
No deadline date yet - in prep for 93 OWP.
Hel Force Levels.
Wessex.
GFS (1 Apr 93) has declared itself unable to conduct any garrison flying.
Own mob requirements will increase as force levels drop.
Likely to recommend retention of the full fleet until 1997 (6 + 2).
Scope for reducing the hours flown per airframe per month as bns are withdrawn.
