This issue is a matter for the Hong Kong Government as the employer of Hong Kong civil servants; it is not a decision which can be taken by HMG. I understand that the Hong Kong Government are examining various possible pension safeguard options and that no decisions have been taken. I have
conveyed to the Hong Kong authorities the points made to me by Mr Wong and Mr Tang.
