I am afraid there has not been much progress at our end. have made contact with the relevant part of the Inland Revenue Department, but the lady in question has not yet replied.

3. I have however very recently seen a copy of the fourth 1992 edition of Voice (the AECS magazine) which contains a long letter from Miss Ottewell, who is responsible for the subject in IRD. This would seem to spell out IRD's position quite clearly. I have nevertheless written to her asking if this is their final word, or whether they might be able to make some exemption for Hong Kong Government Civil Servants.
