These rules may be summarised as follows:

a. Official visits need not be exchanged more than once

during the tenure of office of the Governor and of the

naval, military or air force officer concerned;

b. A Governor will always receive the first visit;

c. A return visit must be paid within 24 hours;

d. The Governor returns the visit in

the visit in person to Naval Flag

Officers and Commodores, and to officers in command of

land and air forces of the colony if of rank

equivalent or superior to that of Brigadier or Air

Commodore;

e.

In other cases the return visit will be paid by the

Governor's Aide-de-Camp or other officer deputed;

f. The Governor (and/or his Aide-de-Camp) will wear

uniform when returning visits, and may wear uniform or morning dress when receiving visits.

It is usual for the time of a visit from a naval officer to

be arranged on the arrival of the ship either through the boarding officer or by signal. The naval officer on landing is usually met by the Aide-de-Camp and driven to Government

House in the Governor's car. A Flag Officer should, if possible, be received by a Guard of Honour

Honour on landing. When

a naval officer arrives by air, or some other means, before or after his ship, he is treated on arrival as being incognito. He would be met by the ADC and driven to

Government House in the Governor's car if he is to stay

there, or to his ship if he is to stay on board. to stay at Government House he would leave there incognito for his ship and return later, receiving his Guard of Honour
