is received with a Royal Salute as in the case of a guard of

honour, and may inspect the troops on parade in the same way

as a guard of honour is inspected. The Governor then

proceeds to the saluting point. As each detachment marches past and salutes, the Governor will return the salute, and

if colours are carried past, the Governor will salute the

colours. Before a review the officer commanding should

furnish the Governor with a programme of the proposed

procedure.

At a Queen's Birthday parade, after the March Past, the Union Flag flown at the saluting point will be hauled down

and the Governor will move to a suitable position to the

flank or rear facing the flagstaff on which the Royal

Standard will then be hoisted or broken, and will salute the

Royal Standard while the National Anthem is played.

No review would be held expressly in honour of a visitor who

is not the head of a state or his personal representative,

or a member of a reigning family. The Governor will ask a

sovereign or the President of a republic or his personal

representative to take the salute alone at a review; in other cases he will ask a member of a reigning family, and

may ask any other distinguished visitor, to take

take the salute

with him. (This would be particularly appropriate where the

visitor holds high naval, military or air force rank.)

ESCORTS

18.1.

18.2

On special ceremonial occasions, such as the opening of the

Legislature, the Governor's car should be accompanied by a cavalry escort or by mounted police, or failing this by police on motor bicycles.

Similar escorts should be provided for members of Royal families and Presidents of republics, and for other distinguished visitors at the Governor's discretion.
