The interviewers asked the interviewees:

only 24 (3.8 percent) gave the

present Hong Kong governor marks that were below the passing mark

(i.e.

less than 50 marks). Five hundred and ninety people (92.3

percent) interviewed felt that Sir David Wilson

passed (50 to 100

marks) of which nearly one half gave him 70 to 89 mark5.

They

constituted 49.8 percent of the total.

The backgrounds and sex of the interviewees have no effects

assessment of the present Hong Kong governor.

In terms of age, people 50 or above gave Sir David the

highest marks (90 or above), which represents a higher ratio than

99 years of age gave Sir David 90 marks or more. Sixteen percent

of the interviewees who are 60 years of age or above gave him

such high marks.

Most of the Elderly Interviewees Gave High Marks

In terms of education standard, 14 percent of the

interviewees who are of primary school standard or below also

gave the present Hong Kong governor 90 marks

or above. That

ratio was obviously higher than those of other education

backgrounds.

Most of the interviewees who are

of tertiary

standard or above also gave Sir David considerably nigh marks.
