ALLEGATION OF CORRUPTION IN THE FOREIGN AND COMMONWEALTH OFFICE.
I refer to previous correspondence.
I understand that meetings and correspondence took place between the then UK Malaysian High Commissioner, Mr David Gillmore, and officials of the Malaysian Ministry of External Affairs in late 1983.
These meetings and the correspondence were intended to influence a police investigation in Hong Kong.
The investigation concerned the matter which has caused Lorrain Osman to be incarcerated for 5 1/2 years.
I understand that one such meeting took place on August 15, 1983 and I understand at least one further meeting was held shortly following.
Exchange of notes, in the same matter, also passed between the High Commission and the Ministry during the same period.
Please confirm these meetings took place.
