Dear Mr Ip

1.

I am writing to thank you and Michael Hsu very much indeed for setting up a first class programme for me on 21 May. The briefings and content of the visit were exactly right to give me a working picture of the District in the time available.

2.

I was enormously impressed by the pace at which development takes place in Yuen Long and by the efficiency with which you and your colleagues iron out the problems associated with such rapid expansion. The visit to Tin Shui Wai was perhaps the most striking illustration of this: there cannot be anywhere else in the world where similar projects could get off the ground with such speed.

3.

I should be most grateful if you could pass on my sincere thanks to those involved in setting up my visit, and in particular Mr Childers for his excellent briefing and tour of Tin Shui Wai, Mr Masatomo Sato and his colleagues for an intriguing tour of the TDK factory in Yuen Long, and the Manager of Long Ping Estate and all those involved in the comprehensive and very worthwhile tour of the Estate.

4.

Finally, it remains for me to thank you and Michael Hsu for a most enjoyable lunch and the valuable opportunity for a visitor from London to get a feel for the work of a District Office.

Yours sincerely Cihm Stypher Sainty.
