Dear Murray,

Thank you for your letter of 26 January. It was
a pleasure to see you again. I hope on your next visit you might allow us to do a lunch or a dinner in your honour, or even tempt you home for a quiet drink.
Thank you for alerting me to Li Ka Shing's and Simon Murray's concerns over Cheung Kong's inclusion in the list of British Undertakings which we are compiling. I have been in touch with Simon many times over the last few months to try to help with this.
am sure you will appreciate, the Hutchison- Cavendish-Cheung Kong companies are among the more difficult groups considered by the Advisory Committee. We work from a fixed set of criteria which are applied equally to all companies and which were laid down in London. We are doing our best to accommodate Li Ka Shing's interests but I am not yet sure quite how it will turn out.
If all goes well I expect our list of over 800 companies will be endorsed, approved and published before Chinese New Year.
Our very best wishes. Thank you so much for taking the trouble to come to the office during your visit: I enjoyed, and benefitted from, our talk enormously.
Yours ever, Peli
