3. Nearly all the undertakings which the Committee are now considering, including most of those enclosed, have been referred to the Committee by Hong Kong Immigration Department (HKID) having been extracted from application forms. As forecast in our last submission on this subject, we may expect a continuing trickle of companies claimed as British Undertakings to be recommended by the Advisory Group as the applications forms are processed by HKID.

The only note-worthy cases were the two charities, the Salvation Army and the Hong Kong Red Cross. As BTC telru 117 shows, the Committee are confident that the decision will not create a precedent which might unleash a flood of similar applications. They believe that few other organisations would qualify on a similar basis.
