December of the amendments which should be made to the list of British undertakings attached to your letter to the Governor dated 29 November.
I should like to take the opportunity to draw your attention to three of the organisations included in the list attached to
letter dated your
29 November, namely British Council, British Tourist Authority and the British Trade
two
Commission
in Hong
Hong Kong.
The
first
are
"designated services" for the purpose of section 2(1)(b) of the British Nationality Act 1981 and have been described as such in Section B, Connections with the United Kingdom, in Chapter
Miscellaneous, of the
Nationality British Selection Scheme Reference Manual. As regards the British Trade Commission in Hong Kong, as service with the BTC is Crown service under the Government of the United Kingdom, Article 16(2)(b) of the British Nationality (Selection Scheme) Order 1990 provides for such service to be allocated points. This has also been clearly set out in Section
As none of B of Chapter 4 of the reference manual. the above three organisations is a company or a firm, our legal adviser has advised that they should be deleted from the list.
