The first batch of successful applicants in the RHKAAF and their dependants have gone though the steps (a) to (e) outlined above. Personality checks and verification interviews have not revealed any adverse information on any of these applicants or their dependants. They and their dependants appear to be suitable for recommendation by the Governor to the Secretary of State for registration as British citizens pursuant to Section 1(1) and Schedule 2 respectively of the British Nationality (Hong Kong) Act 1990. The remaining cases are being processed. The registration of this batch of applicants will meet the Administration's objective of issuing registration certificates to successful applicants in all four classes of the scheme in July. The details of these applicants and information on their dependants will be tabled in the coming meeting.
APPLICANT FOUND TO BE IN THE RHKAAF
6.
In the course of processing other queues, Immigration Department has identified one case in which the applicant should be dealt with in the queue for the RHKAAF. Because the information provided by the applicant was unclear, the case did not come to light when the profiles of applicants were first presented to the Steering Committee at its meeting held on 21 June 1991.
7.
Since the score of the applicant is high enough to bring him above the quota line, it is recommended that personality checks and verification interview be triggered for this applicant. If he passes the checks and the interview, he will be accommodated in the quota for the RHKAAF displacing the applicant who ranked number 10 on the original list. The revised profile of applicants in the RHKAAF will be tabled for member's consideration.
