The ages of all applicants ranges from 21 to 74, whereas those of potentially successful applicants ranges from 32 to 44. The majority of applicants (about 57%) are in the prime age band of 30 to 41. Of those who are potentially successful, 86% fall within this age band. Only 47% of the potentially unsuccessful applicants are in this age band (please refer to Annex A).

Applicants in the age group 42-44 remain very competitive; their success rate is about 37%, which is higher than that for the OG.

Annex B shows that applicants are well qualified especially those who are potentially successful. About 59% of all applicants score 110 points (3/4 of the maximum) or more under the "Education and Training" head out of the maximum 150 points for this OG. 98% of potentially successful applicants score 110 points or more and only 46% of potentially unsuccessful applicants have such scores.

Annex C shows that experience is a significant factor in determining success in OG 11. The length of working experience of potentially successful applicants range from 8 to more than 20 years, with 97% of them having 10 years' experience or more, whereas only 30% of those who are potentially unsuccessful have such length of experience.

In general, the points system has been able to capture applicants who are generally well qualified, have long experience in the field and are in the prime age band.
