Since a new airport is to be built in Hong Kong, prior to the colony being handed back to China in 1997, and it is claimed that this will have the effect of providing great stability and pros- perity there in the intervening years, it must surely be approp- riate to rescind the proposal to admit 250,000 Chinese from Hong Kong, because this was done for the same reason, -to give stability and prosperity to the colony.

yes it will

Admitting 250,000 Chinese to Britain will most certainly produce unrest and instability here, since many of those who would come would have enough wealth to buy houses and other evidence of wealth.

The Chinese who aim to come to Britain should not be treated more favourably than refugees, some of whom may be economic refugees, and some political refugees; ALL the Chinese are ECONOMIC REFUGEES, and that is one of the grounds under which it is proposed to admit

them.

The very idea of admitting Hong Kong Chinese to create 'stability and prosperity' in Hong Kong, is the brainchild of Woodrow Wyatt, writer of articles in the 'Times' and 'The Voice of Truth' in the News of the World. He was a Labour M.P. for 25 years, and it is amazing to find

such an idea being taken up by a Conservative Government. Finally, as you are said to be keenly interested in racial harmony, since your boyhood in Brixton, the best way to achieve racial harmony is to keep the number of ethnic minorities to a minimum.

Yours faithfully,

andy.
