during Report stage in the Commons indicated, a certain amount of general, subjective
comment by the Governor will be expected, over and above a straight narrative on the
discharge of his functions under the Act. I have annexed a list of the points which Members suggested should be covered. Those marked with an asterisk seem, to me, worthy of inclusion.
I suggest the following information should certainly be included:-
a)
the making of the Governor's regulations;
b)
the appointment of the Steering Committee and a list of subjects on
which the Governor had asked the Committee for advice;
c)
statistics on the total number of applications received by class (ie General Occupational Class, Disciplined Services Class, Sensitive Service Class and Entrepreneurs Class);
d)
total numbers recommended by the Governor to date, broken down by
class, occupational group within the GOC, and by rank and service within the DSC;
e)
numbers registered to date on behalf of the Secretary of State;
f)
profile of successful applicants overall and by class (including, for
example, details on sex, age and education level);
g)
h)
i)
numbers of spouses and dependants recommended by the Governor;
adopred
by
the criteria
a[by the Steering Committee in the application of special circumstances points by occupational group in the GOC and by disciplined service in the DSC;
numbers not recommended by the Governor on grounds of:
i)
ineligibility; and
ii)
unsatisfactory character.
