BRITISH NATIONALITY (HONG KONG) ACT: GOVERNOR'S ANNUAL REPORT
1. Section 4 of the British Nationality (Hong Kong) Act requires the Governor to make an annual report to the Home Secretary on the discharge of his functions under the Act. The Home Secretary has said that this report would be made available to Parliament.
2. Lord Caithness may be interested to see the attached letter from the Home Office to the Hong Kong Government, proposing that the first report should cover the period from 7 November 1990 (when the Act came into force) to
-
6 November 1991, and recommending the topics which the Home Office believes should be included these include some suggestions made by MPs during the Commons' report stage. The balance of topics suggested by the Home Office looks about right to me.
