I
to and from the British Trade Commission in Hong Kong. discussed this possibility with Russell Jarvis, the BTC Management Officer, during my recent visit and he saw no difficulties. Delivery to and collection from that point will be the responsibility of the Home Office team. The membership of that team will change every six months. I shall lead the team for the first tour; my successor will be Mr C Dolphin.
On the question of costs, I explained that these will be reimbursed by the Hong Kong Government. Costs arising from material sent from the BTC to the UK could probably best be recouped from HKG by the BTC. As for items sent from the UK, you explained that these would have to be billed to the Home Office in the UK. Since most of these costs will arise before I depart for Hong Kong, I should be grateful if the bills could be sent to me at this office. You kindly agreed to let me have details of charges.
A copy of this letter goes to Russell Jarvis at the BTC and to John Morris in the FCO Hong Kong Department.
Yours sincerely,
Them Tage
