Marsden,
During Lord Caithness' recent visit to Australia the subject of passports for Hong Kong residents came up on several occasions, notably during the discussion the Minister had with Nick Greiner, Premier of New South Wales. He said they had a definite fast track for those people from Hong Kong who they found particularly attractive; he was talking mainly about engineers, technicians and the right sort of entrepreneur ("no cowboys, we have enough of our own"). He said that they were conscious that they were competing in the market not only with the Canadians and the Americans but with all the other Australian states.
