I am writing to let you know that I shall be in Hong Kong on my way to the next IPU conference which takes place in North Korea at the end of April. On present arrangements, I arrive in Hong Kong on Sunday 21st April at 1500 hours, and I leave or Tuesday 23rd April on flight CA 102 for Beijing at 12.20 hours.
I shall be taking the opportunity of a stopover in Beijing to pursue the question of a visit to the United Kingdom by Chairman Wan Lei, and also other matters of mutual interest which will include Hong Kong as part of our agenda for proposed talks with an inward Chinese delegation in the United Kingdom.
I am, therefore, wondering if it might be possible for me to have the opportunity of a brief discussion with the Governor, the Chief Secretary and the Political Office as I did on my last visit in October.
It would also help if there were an opportunity for a brief discussion with you before my cleparture, and I am wondering if you might care to have a drink in the early evening with me at the House of Commons. In which case, perhaps your secretary might contact Mrs Andrews on 071.219.3462.
