1. I should be grateful if you could provide briefing for the above visit. Given the very short time that the Prime Minister will be in Hong Kong, we think that the briefing should take the form of :
(i) a few 'punchy' points for use with the Governor and with British businessmen, for inclusion in our Private Secretary's briefing letter to 10 Downing Street.
(ii) A short background paper on British business prospects in Hong Kong, including recent success stories in the export field and the scope for British companies to benefit from the new airport project.
2. I should be grateful if you could provide this by 21 August, consulting BTC in Hong Kong if necessary.
