Dear Sir David,

Mila joins me in thanking you and Natasha for the warm reception we received throughout our visit to Hong Kong. You and so many others in Hong Kong clearly went to great lengths to make us feel very much at home.

The Territory never fails to impress us with its vitality and determination in the face of the many challenges history has dealt it. I hope that our visit has shown that Canada cares deeply about Hong Kong and stands ready to assist in whatever way we can.

We were delighted to have been able to join you in the launch of Festival Canada '91. I can think of no better way to celebrate the very special Canada-Hong Kong relationship and to give it further impetus for the future. I wish you every success in your own Hong Kong Festival in Canada next year and can assure you that we will be very pleased to help make it a great success.

Please convey our sincere thanks to all of your associates for their assistance and support during the visit. I would add a special word of appreciation to Major-General Duffell for a truly memorable ceremony honouring the Canadian soldiers who gave their life for freedom in Hong Kong and now lie at rest in Saiwan Bay War Cemetery. We can never forget their sacrifice nor the cause for which they died.

Yours sincerely,

Zasilacione знай
