Kaitak which will increase as the years pass

SO that is a very

important point and it is in the interests of China as well as of

Hong Kong that there should be a new airport, the question is in

what circumstances can that be achieved and I very much hope that

it can be achieved in circumstances which leave the necessary

decisions and the control of the project in the hands which under

the Joint Declaration it belongs to, namely that of the Government

of Hong Kong. And that I believe can be achieved, at least I hope

it can be achieved, with due regard for

views which the

Government of China is entitled to express.

What did OMELCO think about it?

There was a wide range of views in OMELCO,

OMELCO, there was no

consensus on these matters, I would not expect it to be, OMELCO is

a body which includes people with very different opinions and they

almost all I think found their voices today.
