THE MORRISON CHAPEL
The Morrison Chapel, completed in 1831, is named after the wife of Robert Morrison, missionary and translator of the first bible in Chinese. It was also previously known as the British Chapel.
Morrison was an interesting man who mixed religion with opium; he often acted as interpreter for Jardines' trading vessels.
Regular services are conducted in the Morrison Chapel by the Vicar of St Mark's Anglican Church, currently The Reverend Michael Poon. Reverend Poon has spent many years in Canada and his wife many years in Britain.
