LORD CAITHNESS' VISIT TO HONG KONG 245 JULY 1991
Briefing
1.
FILE.
I attach an agreed list of the briefs which will be required for the visit, along with a copy of the outline programme.
{
I should be grateful if those responsible (as marked) for preparing would provide them in the following format:- (but see para 3 below)
ie (i) a short list of objectives
(ii)
points to raise
(iii) background (length depending on how familiar Lord Caithness is with the subject)
3.
(iv) and if appropriate a line to take with the press
PS/Lord Caithness has asked that we keep the briefing as concise as possible. He suggested the briefing provided for the recent informal meeting with the FAC was a good model. He stressed that key facts and figures would be sufficient background in most cases and that points to make (where necessary) should seldom exceed one side of A4.
4. We need to submit the briefing including the steering brief by 12 July. I should therefore be grateful for your contributions by COP on 10 July.
