- Calls on Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Commerce (GATT), Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Mechai (Aids, BBC Relay Station and assistance in Thai Public Broadcasting Re-Organisation).

Finance

- Call on Governor of the Bank of Thailand (a Category I visitor to the UK this month). Call on Minister of Finance (IMF/World Bank Conference in October).

Commercial

Speak at lunch organised by British Chamber of Commerce.

Cambodia

Visit Cambodian camps on the border.

Meetings with leaders of non-communist resistance and with SNC Secretariat (if established by then).

Drugs

Presentation of equipment to enforcement agencies in Bangkok and of certificates to Thai officials if visit coincided with Drugs Law Enforcement courses being run by HMC and E in September.

An up-country visit: either to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai to view border patrol police (BPP) narcotics suppression operations. (There is a specific proposal to help train the BPP), and crop substitution projects: or to Phuket to see Thai customs' maritime anti-narcotics operations (Bangkok are bidding for the provision of a fast patrol boat from the seized assets fund).

Consular

Depending on developments, a visit might be an opportunity to raise at high level pardon petitions for certain British prisoners (not Smith and Cahill).

- Wreath-laying at Kanchanaburi war Cemeteries (Rive Kwai).
