Dear John,
Consulate-General Building and the British Chamber of Commerce.
1. As a result of a meeting of one of the committees of the British Chamber of Commerce it became clear that the Chamber was only half aware that we had received, and were acting on, a request from them for space in our new Consulate-General Building.
2. Subsequent to this meeting I spoke to the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce concerning this subject. After a meeting of their Strategy Committee the request for space was endorsed. The space needed will be reviewed, but in the light of their expansion plans they are expecting to need more; in the order of 3500 - 5000 sq feet. Our current Schedule of Requirements lists the space to be made available to them as 200 sq metres (2160 są feet approximately). Will this create a problem?
3. I can find no exchanges on what rent, if any may be charged to the Chamber. We are hoping that the Chamber will get the space for nothing, or at a rent below the commercial rate. If, however, we were to charge a commercial rent, then we need to establish what this is so that the Chamber know where they stand. How all this fits in with the lease and PTG terms is, to me, unclear and I am hoping you will be able to advise me on this issue.
