Section 2

Design Brief

17. The entrance to the Chancery Offices (Group A) should incorporate a main entrance hall, a protected reception desk, and an airlock consisting of two sets of doors into the office circulation.

Chancery and Registry Sections must be positioned on an upper floor. It is preferable that the defence section is also on an upper floor.

If other departments with a public interface are in the same building these should have a separate entrance off the main entrance hall with their own protected reception area.

Where departments with public interface are in separate buildings these should have their own public waiting area, protected reception counter and entrance to the Offices.

Consideration should be made to allow for wheelchair access to Public Entrances.

Separate staff entrance should be provided as necessary to avoid staff passing through public waiting areas.

18. There is a strong inter-relation between departments and as suggested in Annex G these should be grouped with ancillary accommodation as follows:-
