2. In her minute of 21 May followed by another of 27 June
June Pamela Major asked Jill Barrett for comments on the Hong
Kong/Netherlands text. Ms Barrett was unfortunately unable
to deal with this before her departure on leave.
3. We are now asked for comments on the Hong Kong paper in
order that David Edwards can hand it over to the Chinese on
26 July, ie next Friday. If we are to meet this deadline we
will have, I think, to send our comments on Wednesday
24 July at the latest. I should be grateful to know as soon as possible whether you will be able to deal with this in this timescale, or whether we will have to advise Hong Kong
that our comments will have to await Ms Barrett's return.
