COURT DECISIONS ARISING FROM THE BILL OF RIGHTS
1. Thank you for copying us Mr John Leung's minute to you of 9 October. As you are aware, we are very interested in these cases. We are asking our Legal Advisers to look at them in greater detail, in particular with respect to a possible reaction. I should, therefore, be grateful if you would forward us a copy of the judgement referred to in para 2 of John Leung's minute.
2.
I should also be interested in your own views on whether the Chinese will eventually react, and how we should then play it.
It is interesting that this has not yet been raised by NCNA, or by the Chinese JLG team. However, we should not mistake this for indifference, since we do know that the Chinese have been taking an interest in these cases.
Yours ever
S Riordan
