PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE PROBATE AND ADMINISTRATION ORDINANCE, CAP 10
1.
Please refer to the attached papers sent to us by the Hong Kong Government. The proposal is to make provisions so as to allow the High Court in Hong Kong to deal with unspecified charitable requests. The letter from Mr Yuen dated 31 August appears to suggest that an amendment to the Royal Instructions would be necessary to allow the Governor to take on this authority and presumably for him then to "delegate" it to the Courts. I should be grateful for your views on the proposals. Mr Riordan may wish to comment on
the China angle.
